Army bomb squad detonates Civil War grenade in MallowARMY bomb disposal experts conducted a controlled detonation on a Civil War-era grenade in Mallow last night. Army Bomb Disposal Teams were called to Mallow last night after the discovery of a Civil War-era Mills Grenade. A controlled detonation was conducted at 10.39pm to dispose of the munition, with the scene declared safe at 10.55pm. They arrived on the scene at 3.10pm and conducted a controlled detonation at 4.10pm after putting a cordon in place. Should members of the public encounter such munitions they are advised to maintain a safe distance and inform An Garda Síochána.
