Army and stores will deliver food to the vulnerable


Volunteers will be asked to band together in a national effort to support people whose health conditions make them highly vulnerable to the virus. A network of local hubs covering the whole country will take groceries, essential items and medicines to the doorsteps of people staying inside for at least 12 weeks to protect themselves. The NHS has begun writing to 1.5 million people identified as being at “very high risk” if they catch Covid-19, including those with severe asthma and other respiratory conditions, pregnant woman with heart disease, cancer patients on chemotherapy and others with compromised immune systems. They are told to keep 2 metres from their families at all times and sleep separately from their partner. They should eat their meals alone,
