Armed forces foil bid by immigrants to sneak into Sabah


SEMPORNA: The armed forces have foiled an attempt by a group of immigrants who were planning to sneak into Sabah via Mantabuan waters off Semporna, this morning. In the 4.30am incident, the armed forces were conducting an operation, dubbed Op Pasir, when they spotted a wooden boat with four people on board. The military personnel detained the boat and its passengers and handed them over to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) for further action. He said this was the third case involving arrest of illegal immigrants handed over to the agency this year. “Semporna MMEA will continue to work with other enforcement agencies to ensure that Malaysian waters, particularly in this district, are safe.
