Armed clashes broke out in front of the Libyan government headquarters in Tripoli, forcing employees to leave the building, according to multiple press reports. A security source told The Libya Update that the armed group responsible for besieging the government building is from Misurata. The source, which requested anonymity for safety concerns, said the armed group had participated in a pro-Dbeibeh military parade, which the government organized in Tripoli a few weeks ago. The armed group allegedly besieged the government premises in protest of Dbeibeh’s backtracking his promise to pay the group 5,000 Libyan Dinars ($1069) in exchange for their participation in the parade. The source reported that the situation is now relatively calm.
