KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles Arif Latif-Azriyn Ayub did their chances of securing a spot in next month’s Thomas Cup squad a huge favour by qualifying for the final of the Osaka International Challenge today. The pair, offered a three-month trial by the BA of Malaysia, shocked seventh seeded Inkarat Apisuk-Tanupat Viriyangkura (Thailand) 21-16, 23-21 to book their spot in the decider. Azriyn said qualifying for the final has made him more motivated to play in the Thomas Cup for the first time. Arif-Azriyn will begin their three- month trial with BAM as soon as they return from Osaka. Former national player Lim Khim Wah has also been given a three-month trial.
