Applications open for Jack Ma’s Africa Netpreneur Prize

The application process for the Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative run by the Jack Ma Foundation has opened to African entrepreneurs from all countries, sectors and age groups. Disrupt Africa reported last August on the launch of the Netpreneur Prize, aimed at empowering a new generation of African entrepreneurs. The prize will see US$10 million in grant funding distributed by the Jack Ma Foundation to 100 entrepreneurs over the next 10 years. The prize, for which applications are open until June 30, will each year select 10 finalists to compete in a pitch competition that will be broadcast across the continent. The Jack Ma Foundation has teamed up with regional partners, Nailab (continental and Eastern Africa), 22 on Sloane (South Africa), Nine (West Africa), and Rise Up (North Africa), to promote the prize in their respective regions.
