Apple acquires Indian-machine learning startup, Tuplejump

Apple has acquired Tuplejump, a Hyderabad-based machine learning startup which helps companies to store, process and visualize large amounts of data with its software. In conversation with TechCrunch, Apple spokesperson Colin Johnson confirmed the acquisition and stated, “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”This is the third machine-learning company which has been acquired by Apple. Recently, the company bought two well-known startups Perceptio and Turi. The report added that Apple was particularly interested in “FiloDB”, which was primarily headed by Evan Chan who is working with Tuplejump since August of 2015. It is an open-source project that Tuplejump was building to efficiently apply machine learning concepts and analytics to massive amounts of complex data right as it streamed in.
