The Court of Final Appeal will handle the Department of Justice's application over Next Digital founder Jimmy Lai Chee-ying's bail on New Year's Eve morning. The media mogul was granted bail of HK$10 million cash and HK$300,000 in sureties by the High Court on Wednesday. Under his bail terms, Lai is not allowed to meet with foreign officials, give any interviews, publish any articles or post on social media, and will have to remain at home and surrender his travel documents. The prosecution previouly raised an immediate appeal on the same day but was denied by the High Court. Lai reported to Kowloon city police station this afternoon and left within ten minutes without answering any media questions.
