Appalachian State RB Evans to enter NFL draft

Appalachian State redshirt junior running back Darrynton Evans announced Wednesday he will enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Evans rushed for 1,480 yards and 18 touchdowns this season for the 13-1 Mountaineers, who capped their season with a 31-17 win over UAB in the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday. A former two-star prospect who redshirted in 2017 due to injury, Evans rushed for 1,187 yards and seven scores in 2018. “On Christmas Day in 2015, I was afforded the opportunity to pursue my goal of receiving a college education while playing Division I collegiate football,” Evans wrote on social media. Florida State’s Cam Akers, Arizona State’s Eno Benjamin and Boston College’s AJ Dillon are among several running backs who already have declared for the draft.
