The scanner was flown into Sri Lanka on December 24 and will formally come into operation at a ceremony held at the hospital. The scanner was purchased with the intervention of M.S.H. The scanner was purchased using funds contributed by members of the public which were later handed over to the Health Ministry. Upon completion of the tender process and Cabinet approval, the scanner was purchased from "Siemens" in Germany. Engineers from Siemens have already established the scanner and are in the process of testing it now, the Ministry added.
