Anzac commemoration draws crowds in Nelson Tasman

Over five hundred people gathered in Nelson for the ANZAC Day dawn service, on Sunday morning. Hundreds gathered for Anzac memorial services across the Nelson Tasman region, perhaps drawn out after Covid-19 prevented public memorials last year. Around 500 people gathered for the dawn service in Nelson, and hundreds gathered elsewhere around the region, including a 400-strong crowd in Brightwater. Brigadier Sean Trengrove spoke at the service about a lesser-known Anzac battle, one that took place on Anzac day in 1951 in Kapyong, South Korea. “The Anzacs had been looking forward to a joint Anzac Day parade, that would have also featured Turkish soldiers – time heals old wounds,” he said.
