PETALING JAYA: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) has called on the public to stay calm and not fall prey to negative racial sentiments. He noted that as a country with people from a multitude of backgrounds, Malaysians are fortunate to not have suffered from race-related violence for decades. "However, this hard-fought peace is not something we should take for granted," he said in a statement on Thursday (Nov 29). "A similarly stern stance should be taken on criminals who attempt to cloak their underhanded practices in the guise of negative racial sentiments," he added. Anwar said this in light of the recent Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple fracas, where two groups clashed over the temple relocation.
