Prime Minister and Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) leader Anutin Charnvirakul has rejected suggestions that negotiations to form the new government have been finalised, insisting that discussions remain ongoing and that he alone is leading the process. Speaking at Government House yesterday, Mr Anutin -- serving as caretaker prime minister -- responded to remarks by senior party colleagues indicating that a 300-seat coalition had already been secured. Until the official endorsement of results is complete, he said, it would be inappropriate to discuss binding coalition agreements, cabinet allocations, or voting commitments for the premiership. Mr Anutin declined to reveal whether BJT would insist on voting for the prime minister before ministerial posts are apportioned, saying only that clarity over MP seat numbers must come first. Mr Anutin also laughed off talk of a so-called "traffic-light" alliance involving rival parties that could potentially edge BJT into opposition.
