As the BMMA (Mahila Andolan) has rightly pointed out, there is no mention of the inhuman, unjust and anti-women instant talaq in the Quran. New Delhi, June 12: Over 200 Muslim men have backed the campaign by the community's women against instant triple talaq and nikah-halala as practised in India, dubbing them "unconstitutional". The men, drawn from across the country, endorsed the crusade by the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan. "We categorically reject the false claims of the ulemas (religious scholars) that what goes in the name of Muslim personal law in India is a 'God-given' law. "If anything, it is more so men's obligation to cry a halt to patriarchy, particularly when it is sought to be perpetuated in the name of God," the men said in a joint statement.
