Anti-tobacco campaigners foil BATB roadshow on BUET campus

The protesters alleged that on the pretext of generating employment, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB), like in the past years, has organised the “Battle of Minds 2017” roadshow in different universities. The BATB roadshows for this year's "Battle of Minds" started on Oct 10. The roadshow was finally cancelled and the vice-chancellor’s office informed the protesting anti-tobacco activists of the development. Earlier on Oct 3, the PROGGA, a non-government anti-tobacco campaigner in Bangladesh, sent an alert about the BoM 2017 to the anti-tobacco organisations and media. The BATB has been organising this marketing event since 2004 to attract youths to smoking and influence the policymakers, the campaigners allege.
