Among the equipment sent to Kisumu to contain the demonstrators are two water cannons. According to the Standard, the water cannons were driven to Kisumu under the cover of darkness last week. The water cannons were to be sent to Mombasa and Kisumu with each getting two vehicles while the rest will be in Nairobi. According to several reports in Kenya the government is said to have bought 10 water cannons from China to be used to contain rioters in the country. In the last one month the opposition has held four demonstrations against the electoral body which have all turned violent.
