FRAMINGHAM — On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, then-White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card leaned into President George W. Bush's ear and whispered that the country was under attack. Card, a Massachusetts native, will speak next week at Framingham State University in the Dwight Performing Arts Center. Card served as chief of staff under Bush from 2001 to 2006, becoming the second longest tenured White House Chief of Staff. In 2014, Card became president of Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, serving until his retirement in the summer of 2016. Virtual on-demand tours of the 9/11 memorial and museum in New York City are available to the Framingham State community until Sept. 20.
