Photo: suppliedMediaWorks chief executive Michael Anderson will leave the free-to-air broadcaster at the end of the year, but should still have his feet under the desk when the TV business is sold. Mr Anderson took over the reins of the radio and TV network in 2016, replacing former NZX boss Mark Weldon after a rocky tenure during which a string of talent walked out the door. MediaWorks has struggled to achieve profitability under the ownership of US private equity firm Oaktree Capital, which took control of the firm when the broadcaster was tipped into receivership in 2013. His appointment followed a boardroom shake-up in which telco entrepreneur and media veteran Jack Matthews took over as chairman in 2016.
