The former Man City captain left the Etihad at the end of last season to take up a player-manager role with his old club. But Kompany is yet to complete his UEFA Pro licence - a requirement for all top flight managers in the Belgian league. They added that Vercautern will be in charge on matchdays, meaning Kompany is likely to be the boss for the remainder of the week. Davies was believed to be handling first-team affairs during matches when Kompany was on the pitch, prior to the latest announcement.
