The rocket stood 48ft taller than Big Ben’s tower and packed enough thrust to carry nine adult elephants to the moon. Its engines were so powerful that they shattered the windows in nearby houses during testing. It was the largest, heaviest and most powerful vehicle the world had yet seen. By accident or by design, Elon Musk’s Falcon Heavy rocket took off from the same launch pad as the Saturn V that carried the Apollo 11 lunar mission almost half a century ago. The Falcon Heavy is by far the strongest rocket in operation today.
