An advert for its Alexa voice technology during the Super Bowl featured Alexa trying to tell somebody what the weather was like in Austin, Texas, only to lose her voice halfway through. Austin is seen as a contender to host the online retailer’s $5 billion-plus Amazon HQ2, creating as many as 50,000 “high-paying” jobs, so the theory has some merit .
