Four cheers for Simon Jenkins’ article on football (Boris Johnson’s Euros bandwagon-jumping won’t get him far, 12 July). It says everything that it is a political columnist, not a sportswriter, who makes the obvious point that it should be the UK team, not England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It will be Team GB at the Olympics, and it is long overdue for the four UK football teams to combine.
