When did you first meet Marti Friedlander, and how well did you get to know her? It was full of photographs, quite a few of which I’d never seen before, and I thought I had seen all her prints. She married a New Zealander, Gerrard Friedlander, and moved here in the 1950s, obviously bringing a fresh eye to quite an unsophisticated place.
