Amnesty International has urged the international community to help ensure that no Rohingya refugees are forced back to Myanmar as long as they remain at risk of serious human rights violations in the country. On Monday, Bangladesh and Myanmar agreed to form a joint working to discuss the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. “No one should be forced back to a situation where they will continue to face serious human rights violations and systemic discrimination and segregation.”He said: “The Myanmar military’s horrific campaign against the Rohingya in Rakhine State amounts to crimes against humanity. “Rohingya refugees must be allowed to go back to their homes voluntarily and in safety and dignity. Such “safe zones”, however, have a chequered history when established in other conflicts.
