American Athletic Conference football championship pushes back Maryland state title games

(Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post)The Maryland high school football state finalists must wait an extra week to take the field due to a scheduling conflict at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis. Originally slated for Thursday through Saturday, the championships have been postponed a week to Dec. 8-10 as a result of Navy clinching home field advantage for the American Athletic Conference football final against Temple on Dec. 3. The Ravens installed a grass field to replace their artificial turf and notified MPSSAA that they didn’t want the additional footprint from four title games.
