Amazon is already working on a domestic robot for use at home, business wire Bloomberg has reported, citing sources familiar with the project. The project, which appears to be a mobile version of the Amazon Echo, isn't just some far-off idea. Amazon took over Kiva, the developer of warehouse robotic systems, in 2012 and used the technology to partially automate its own logistics centres. Alongside its Echo cloud-based smart speakers, Amazon is also working on delivery drones and recently took over two developers of smart doorbells and home security cameras. Despite technological advances, domestic robots have more or less remained in the research stages or science fiction.
