Hot on the heels of Amazon's announcement that it will start selling Google's Chromecast in its online store, the e-commerce giant has announced the availability of the Amazon Prime application on Android TV. Google took issue with the absence of the Prime TV app from the Android TV app store and Amazon's decision to not sell the Chromecast streaming device. The application cannot really be used with any Android TV compatible device as apparently Amazon has not updated the compatibility list. Even the Nividea Shield TV which actually comes with the Amazon Prime app pre-installed (the only current Android TV device to do so) is not able to access the application now as a result of this issue.
