MEREDITH — As they have since 2008, members of Altrusa International of Meredith have distributed farm fresh vegetables donated by Moulton farm to food banks and nonprofits providing community dinners. This Farm to Table program was inspired by the biblical Book of Ruth in which the poor were allowed to glean the harvest from the corners of the fields. Altrusans wanted to assure that their less fortunate neighbors could enjoy the nutrition and flavor that comes from fresh vegetables. Through the Farm to Table program, hundreds of people each week enjoy improved nutrition and great taste. Altrusan Lisa Davis delivers vegetables from Moulton Farm to Calvary Bible Church to stock the food pantry.
