Covid patients infected with the UK Covid strain B117 (alpha) have been found in many parts of Sri Lanka. According to the biological samples obtained, the infected patients were found in Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Kuliyapitiya, Wariyapola, Habaraduwa, Tissamaharama, Karapitiya and Ragama, stated Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, Director, Institute of Immunology and Cell Biology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He also said that a person infected with B.1.617.2 (Delta), which is considered to be an Indian Covid strain, was found at the Wadduwa Quarantine Center. It has been reported that the person had come to this country from India.
