The local private company called Coir Creations has invented a new eco-friendly helmet and other type of coir productions to the Ministry of Environment today (10). “This helmet and other coir productions are more environmentally friendly and safer than the imported helmets currently used in our country, made using 100% coconut coir fiber,” the Ministry of Environment said today. The officials from the Coir Creations presented their productions to Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera at the Ministry of Environment yesterday (09). “Safety helmets made from these coir fibers are healthier than the other Plastics and synthetic helmets currently in use. Especially absorbing sunlight, easy to wash and clean, light weight, no discomfort to the head even in dry weather, no damage from ultraviolet rays, no odor like other helmets, Its coir fiber helmets are natural and eco-friendly and will decompose quickly after release into the environment,” Coir Creations officials said.
