Shiv Sena has never been able to come to terms with the changed equations and playing second fiddle to BJP. The 12 candidates in the fray from smaller alliance partners like RPI(A) are all contesting on the BJP symbol. Since some of the 12 candidates of smaller allies are not in a winnable position and BJP is in the fray in 152 seats, Shiv Sena will play a key role in government formation.The Thackerays are unhappy with several decisions of the BJP. Shiv Sena is opposed to its former leader Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh being being fielded from Kankavali seat in Sindhudurg on a BJP ticket. Narayan Rane is a member of BJP Rajya Sabha and not surprisingly he merged his Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha with BJP on October 15.Rane began his career with Shiv Sena which even made him Maharashtra Chief Minister.
