Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said arrangements for repolling in five polling stations in three districts on May 6 were completed and the time for campaigning was over at 6 p.m. on Saturday. In a press release, Mr. Dwivedi said steps were taken to conduct the repoll in a peaceful manner under the personal supervision of special central observers, returning officers and the sub-divisional police officers concerned. Fifty armed police were being deployed at each polling station to prevent any untoward incident and video-coverage was provided. CountingThe CEO announced that counting of the votes polled on April 11 would begin at 8 a.m. on May 23 starting with postal and service votes. Counting staff would be selected through randomisation, he added.
