The introduction of ride-sharing service Uber led to binge drinking in towns and cities increasing by 3.7 per cent before lockdown began, a study has concluded. However, he added, his 'findings suggest that Uber's entry generally increases binge drinking across major US metropolitan areas.' 'We find Uber's entry increased binge drinking by 2.2–3.7 per cent and had no impact on drinking days. 'By contrast, Uber's presence encourages individuals to involve themselves in binge drinking,' he continued. He found that 14 per cent of all adults binge drink at least once a month.
