The premier said the increase in COVID-19 cases prompted the "limited, focused, targeted measures." Almost daily, Alberta is seeing record numbers of new cases, active cases and, perhaps most ominously, hospitalization and intensive care unit occupancy rates. Forty per cent COVID-19 cases have been traced to transmission at home and at social gatherings, he said.
