University of Calgary economist Trevor Tombe wrote a report published by the School of Public Policy on Tuesday pointing to an unsustainable fiscal future for Alberta. ( Jeff McIntosh / The Canadian Press )The report says the problem at hand isn’t government spending or revenue, it’s Alberta’s budget. Tombe said diagnosing this long-term problem and suggesting methods to tackle this issue is an apolitical act, which the government doesn’t need to engage in itself. In response to the report, the provincial government cited its record so far in growing Alberta’s economy. That’s not something we’ve seen much of until the last decade or so.” Andrew Jeffrey is a reporter/photographer for StarMetro Calgary.
