Alai sues state over doctor's strike, wants health services restored

Robert Alai has lodged a petition in court against the state for denying Kenyans their constitutional right of access to medical care. In any case the doctors are exercising a constitutional right by calling for the strike," Alai said. "The CS Health appears compromised and not keen on solving the problem given his background and association with one of the leading private health care providers who are benefiting from the ongoing paralysis in the public health sector," he stated. He wants the High Court to compel the relevant government agencies to take necessary action to end the stalemate and ensure the citizen’s rights to health care services is restored. Alai also wants the court issue conservatory orders suspending or staying the execution of orders to commit the doctors union officials to jail.
