Airlines continue recovery flights for stranded travelers – The Manila Times

The country’s major airlines said on Wednesday that they continue to mount sweeper flights for stranded tourists amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Philippines told The Manila Times that they are cooperating with the government to fly out tourists affected by the travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus crisis. Cebu Pacific spokesman Charo Logarta-Lagamon said in a Viber message that the Gokongwei-led budget carrier is already talking with the Department of Tourism on the schedule of sweeper flights, while PAL spokesman Cielo Villaluna, said the Tan-led flag carrier continues its domestic sweeper flights and special international flights for foreign travelers. AirAsia Philippines also said it was also mounting recovery flights, and David de Castro, the airline’s head of communications, said it was closing coordinating with the concerned government agencies and embassies “to assist them in their requirements for special flights.”
