United, a target of many customer complaints, has two types of credits: travel credits and flight credits. Not so with flight credits. Flight credits are for passengers who change their plans on nonrefundable tickets. Unlike United, American’s new flight credits don’t lose value if you rebook for a cheaper flight—you get the difference in a trip credit. Sunita Warrier, American’s director of customer-experience solutions, says trip credits will ultimately make it easier for customers to rebook.
