KUALA LUMPUR: Airline cabin and ground crew are now the first line of defence against human trafficking, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed. He said the airline staff would be trained to spot and identify possible victims of human trafficking and report them to the authorities. Nur Jazlan said human trafficking was also a domestic issue with locals being forced into labour or prostitution by other locals. "We think of human trafficking as involving foreigners but cases like a husband forcing his wife or a mother forcing her daughters into the sex trade are also human trafficking. The public can play a major role in looking out for possible cases of human trafficking," he said.
