Air force helicopter pilot rushes from fires to floods

NH90 pilot Flight Lieutenant Andrew Stewart has dashed between a rescue mission, Australian bushfires and flooding in Southland. It has been a frantic start to 2020 for helicopter pilot Flight Lieutenant Andrew Stewart. First the NH90 pilot was involved in a challenging search and rescue mission, then he provided air support for the Australian bushfires. Stewart, 28, a member of No 3 Squadron at Ōhakea air base, said the work reminded him about why he joined the air force 12 years ago. He flew rescue fire service workers around high-risk areas, looking for smoke and fires that had flared up.
