Thalaivi showcases the late politician's journey from being an actor to becoming Tamil Nadu CM. For the film, Kangana underwent massive physical transformation like gaining about 20 kgs to get into the skin of her character. Ahead of the Thalaivi trailer launch, Kangana dropped new stills from the film much to the excitement of the fans. In the final still shared by Kangana, the actor is donning the look of Jayalalithaa as Tamil Nadu CM.
