Africa lost one of its talented children to COVID 19 this Tuesday morning. Manu Dibango, 86, a Cameroonian saxophonist and Afro-jazz legend is dead. He has been hospitalized in a hospital in Paris for several days after testing positive for coronavirus. The author of one of the greatest hits of world music, “Soul Makossa” (1972), became the first world celebrity to die of coronavirus infection. Born in Cameroon in 1933, Manu Dibango dedicated his entire life to music.
