4 December 2018: The 2018 Africa Sustainable Development Report highlights the region’s progress on the SDGs and shares lessons learned in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063. The report identifies several emerging challenges that threaten progress on SDG 6, including climate change, droughts, floods and water management. On SDG 7, the report finds access to electricity has increased from 39.7% in 2008 to 45.9% in 2014 in Africa. Like other regions of the world, the report observes Africa faces the risk of extinction of major animal species.
