KUALA LUMPUR: Having sight in only one-eye did not hamper Afiq Ali, as his aim of winning the 200m gold came through. The athlete won his second gold of the Kuala Lumpur Asean Para Games (Para KL2017) in a convincing manner when he clocked 23.56s in the 200m T12 event yesterday. Afiq’s background is tragic, because he was born normal but a freak accident when he was 12, left him blind in his left eye. Malaysia finished second overall in the athletics event with 36 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze. Indonesia were crowned champions with 40 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze while Thailand were third overall on 26 gold, 33 silver and 31 bronze.
