KUALA LUMPUR: Although the local adaptation of the hit K-drama series Coffee Prince has yet to go on air, a scene from the drama has already caused a stir among Netizens. A “kissing” scene between the two lead stars Fattah Amin and Janna was shared on Insta Story and many commented the inappropriateness of such scene, even if it involved some manoeuvred camera work. A Netizen wrote: “Walaupun sebenarnya tak kena bibir..tp tetap boleh menggalakkan fitnah…” (Although they didn’t actually lock lips, it could still set tongues a-wagging…)In the original drama, the characters played by Gong Yoo (Choi Han-Kyul) and Yoon Eun-Hye (Go Eun-Chan) were pretending to be kissing as Chan Han-Kyul wanted to avoid being matchmade by his grandma. Netizens commented that although everyone in the production wanted the adaptation to stay close to the original drama, certain scenes should be tweaked to suit cultural sensitivities. Its director Michael Ang obviously became the target, with some suggesting that he should be wise enough to know how to create a sensation for his upcoming drama series and the cast, without having to resort to cheap publicity stunt.
