Lallana was sent off after appearing to grab Marsh around the throatAdam Lallana was sent off for Liverpool Under-23 last night, but his dismissal will not result in suspension at senior level. The midfielder reacted angrily to an aerial challenge in the 63rd minute from Tottenham Hotspur’s George Marsh by grabbing his opponent by the throat before pulling his head down. Marsh, 19, had earlier been booked for a heavy challenge on Lallana. Lallana was back in action having missed Liverpool’s last three first-team matches ALEX MORTON/GETTY IMAGESThe 29-year-old was shown a straight red card but FA rules state a ban must be served for non-first team games. Neil Critchley, the Under-23 coach, said of Lallana, who was about to be taken off: “I have never seen Adam react like that.” Lallana started Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to boost his fitness, having missed the past three matches with a groin injury.
