Television actor and singer Karan Oberoi has been arrested by the Oshiwara police for allegedly raping and extorting money from an astrologer. "Both of them initially had a casual chat but later, the woman started pressing Oberoi for various reasons. In order to extort money from him, she threatened to lodge a policecomplaint against him to defame him. When he refused to comply, the woman approached the police and registered a case on the basis of baseless allegations after which Oberoi too approached the police and gave his statement," argued Oberoi's advocate. The complainant told the police that Oberoi had promised to marry her but in order to take undue advantage, she was raped and the act was filmed and then used as a tool to extort money.
