A judge’s harsh bail refusal for accused international hacker Karim Baratov, arrested in Canada but wanted in the United States, will be appealed, his legal team announced Wednesday. Whitten also questioned Baratov’s parents’ ability — and indeed willingness — to adequately watch him. He referred to possible “wilful blindness.”“Past silence or passive acquiescence does not bode well for a complete volte-face in the emergence of a warden,” Whitten wrote. “This is not a picture of an individual who would grieve the loss of $1-million,” Whitten wrote. DiCarlo said he will be meeting with Baratov and his parents Thursday to go over their next steps.
