more-inThe steering committee of the Kochi Corporation has proposed to allow a portion of the Veli ground for public functions and matches. The ground was recently turfed and infrastructure facilities installed as part of the Under-17 Football World Cup matches, which the city had hosted. The ground was used for practice matches of the visiting teams. Earlier, there was a public demand for opening up the space, which is one of the most used public spaces in the area. The right to maintain the turf and allied facilities shall be auctioned off, it was proposed.
