It seems there is one counterattack that can be deployed to stop the Terminator after all: a strongly worded open letter by academics. A team of artificial intelligence experts from across the world has called for a boycott of a South Korean university that was understood to be researching autonomous military robots. The Korea Times reported that the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kaist) would be collaborating with a defence contractor to design AI weapons, including unmanned submarines and armed quadcopters.
